Some coaches study the game from the outside. Coach Shark lived it from the inside — as a product of this very program. A former Fohi Steeler himself, Ricardo del Rio III didn’t just learn defense from a playbook. He learned it under Coach Brew, in the trenches, taking reps, making mistakes, and figuring out what it truly means to compete. Now he’s on the other side of it — and he’s passing every bit of that knowledge down.
As the Varsity Linebackers Coach, Shark develops the most instinctual position on the field. His guys diagnose, react, and attack — because he’s been in their shoes. He knows exactly what a young linebacker is thinking before the snap, and he knows exactly how to fix it. That kind of credibility can’t be manufactured.
As the Frosh/Soph Defensive Coordinator, Shark is the next link in the chain that Coach Brew started. He installs the same system, the same standard, and the same mentality from day one — so by the time these kids reach varsity, they already speak the language. Young enough to connect, sharp enough to coach. The future of this defense runs through him.
“I was coached here. I know what this program demands. I’m not going to let the standard drop on my watch.”
